Our Mission

GLP-1s are well on their way to being the most important drug class of our lifetime. They started in diabetes, then weight loss, and now they're in trials for heart disease, kidney disease, sleep apnea, liver disease, and dementia. The catch is how you take them. A weekly injection works, but most people will not put inject themselves with a needle for the rest of their lives. Oral versions solve this, but the gut delivery creates issues with nausea and efficacy.


We want to use our specialized nanoparticle technology from Columbia to deliver medicine to patients in a novel and non-invasive way. If GLP-1s end up being some sort of miracle drug, then it should be in the hands of every patient that needs it. Not only that, but some of us are pre-diabetic and diabetic ourselves and have Alzheimer's in the family, so this is a very personal mission too.


From there, we want to create a platform of nanoparticle delivery technologies with our patents (polymers, LNPs, polysacchirides, metallics) for a variety of biologics to support patients across multiple indications.

Injectable GLP-1s work but the problem is everything else about them. The weekly needle, the cold storage, the clinical setting. Oral alternatives exist but efficacy remains the ceiling. Lionbio is working inside of this gap.


We developed a patented intranasal delivery platform for GLP-1 therapeutics that matches injectable efficacy without the injection. And unlike most biotech companies, we own the entire arc from preclinical formulation and manufacturing to the product that lands in a patient's home. No hand-off to a distribution brand or dilution through a telehealth middleman. We control the science, the quality, and the consumer experience.


Our scientific leadership includes pioneers in nanoparticle delivery, vascular tissue engineering, and human organoid disease modeling, with deep roots in preclinical development and biomedical research at Columbia University.
